WheelTime Passes Endurance Test

WheelTime records laps as cyclists catch breath in peletonThe WheelTime side mount antenna system passed it's most stringent test yet at the TOKEN 12 Hour Enduro event held on January 11 2009.

The system was used to record the laps completed of a 5.05km course at the International Regatta Centre in Penrith, NSW. The day dawned in a beautiful fashion and the event commenced promptly at 8am. At 8pm that evening the event winner Richard Vollebregt had completed 95 laps in the 12-hour period or 480km at an average speed of 40kph - an incredible effort!

Southern Highlands Cycling Club was the host of the event which they anticipate will start a comeback of these types of races for hardy souls. Race Director Chad Balding says "the Mountain Bike guys have seen plenty of events of this type and we felt it was time the Roadies got a go." The WheelTime side mount antenna system which was being used for the first time in Australia was a hit with riders and organizers alike. Chad adds "the event timing was impeccable with progress reports being posted throughout the day, giving all competitors and their support crews insight as to how the race was unfolding. Without Times-7 Sport there wouldn't be a race."

SHCC hope to gain support from the governing bodies to secure the State and National events to be held on an annual basis and this event has certainly gone a long way to achieving that goal. Cycling NSW CEO Kevin Young says "Cycling NSW purchased the equipment late last year and have now used it on 3 occasions the most recent being last weekend for this 12 hour enduro event. The system could not be faulted. I now have a staff member who has been trained to run the equipment. He is new to cycling and says he finds it very simple to use. The participants and Clubs have been impressed and it would not surprise me to see other Clubs purchase the base unit in time. We genuinely see Times 7 as working partners on this project and I can assure you the enthusiasm and support offered by their team has been terrific."

Times-7 Sport General Manager Peter Armson says "this is another great example of our WheelTime system adding to the efficiency and accuracy of sports timing, and in this case for the sport of cycling which is reliant on accurate timing. We're delighted to be able to offer our clients this level of professionalism and service".
