26 January 2009
Times-7 Sport of Hastings, New Zealand, announces a significant new customer in Timing Sports, a trading name for Keep Left Ltd of Auckland, New Zealand. Timing Sports recently entered into an agreement with Times-7 Sport to purchase IPICO Sports timing equipment for their major 2009 events. Timing Sports, who formerly operated under the trading name ChampionChip Australasia, are gradually phasing out their legacy ChampionChip systems in favour of next-generation IPICO technology. Timing Sports count some of the largest and most prestigious events in the world amongst their valued clients, including the world's biggest annual running event, the 70,000+ competitor Sun-Herald City2Surf in Sydney, Australia.
IPICO Elite readers, teamed with IPICO's lightweight mats and dual frequency IP-X RFID timing tag, will power all of Timing Sports' major events for 2009, beginning with the 30,000 athlete Run For The Kids fun run in Melbourne, Australia on April 5, 2009.
"We're tremendously excited to introduce the new technology and new tags to our marquee events in 2009", said Keep Left's Director of Operations, Rob Docherty. "The new lightweight mats will allow us to span wider lines with greater redundancy than our previous systems and the ease of setup will greatly relieve the pressure on our timers. We believe runners will love the new half-credit card sized tags and already one of our major clients has elected to go for a custom collectable tag which athletes can keep as a memento of their performance."
Shane Hooks, Director of Sales & Marketing for Keep Left, added, "Our commitment to leading the sport's timing market in Australasia is absolute. We have carefully watched the IPICO Sports systems develop and improve over recent years. When we became convinced it was the best product on the market, that's when we had to have it. I look forward to leveraging IPICO technologies and our skills as 'big event timers' even further afield in the coming years."
Michael Lynch, General Manager of Times-7 Sport, the exclusive distributor of IPICO Sports products in Australia and New Zealand, had this to say about the new partnership, "The addition of Timing Sports to our client base cements Times-7 Sport's position as the premier active sport's timing system supplier in the region. We look forward to working with Timing Sports to deliver an unparalleled service to their near half a million athlete clients."
