The Tour of Luzon is a 9-day international stage race around the Luzon region of the Philippines, the area surrounding the country's sprawling capital city, Manila.
The 2010 LPMGA Tour of Luzon kicked off the eight stage event on Saturday 27 February from the Macapagal Highway.
This is a hot, grueling course and the racing was a lot tighter and tougher than expected for the four "foreign" teams who signed up for the inaugural race: Kelly Benefit Strategies of the United States, South Africa's EMG, Champion System of Hong Kong and CNN-Collosi of New Zealand and the Netherlands.
However, the foreigners dominated the field in the 2010 LPGMA Tour of Luzon that ended at the Ayala Triangle in Makati City.
South African rider Dennis Von Nickerk of the EMG Cycling Team ruled the nine-day race, leading a 1-2-3 finish for the foreign invaders as Baler Ravina emerged the best-performing Filipino at fourth spot.
"The environment is tough, the weather is formidable and the competition is fierce" observes Leian Cruz, General Manager of iTime Sports.
"This is an international UCI event with world class cyclists, so we need to be completely certain that we have the very best timing equipment available" continues Leian. "After extensive research, we chose the T-7 WheelTime Electronic Timing system for its accuracy and reliability, and we've certainly been thrilled with our decision".
"We have to be adaptable in this environment with many course changes and weather extremes. The flexibility of the system allowed us to make quick adjustments" says Leian.
"Of course, we've picked up a few tricks on the way. We're grateful for the responsive communication of Gavin Chaplow from Times-7 Sport, who talked us through some of the unplanned changes that we encountered" explains Leian.
"Leian and his team were brilliant to work with" says Gavin Chaplow. "They were determined to achieve an accurate and quality experience to their clients and their professionalism certainly delivered the results"
