NSW pipped Queensland in the latest State of Origin contest on Sunday 12 October 2008 as Times-7 Sport's IPICO DF Multisport system captured a triathlon double-header for the first time in Australia.
The Maitland Mercury Triathlon held at Morpeth in NSW kicked off proceedings with a 7am start. H Events hosted the Maitland Triathlon and Multisport Festival which featured the NSW Club Distance Championship Triathlon, the inaugural Erox River Swim and the Athletes Foot Country Fun Run. Race Director Paul Humphreys says "the Blitz Sports Timing crew and the IPICO DF system worked flawlessly across all of our events this weekend. In the past we have had a few timing queries during and post the event, but this year all splits were captured and there have not been any times questioned at all."
Meanwhile, the first of the Pink Triathlon series in Runaway Bay in Queensland followed closely with an 8am start. The organizers of the Pink Triathlon series T3 Events were also very happy with the IPICO performance. Race Director Kerry Stubbs says "The Timing Guys utilized their IPICO DF system and performed with their usual efficiency".
Times-7 Sport General Manager Peter Armson says "These are two great examples of the IPICO DF system advancing the efficiency and accuracy of sports timing, and in this case for the sport of triathlon which is reliant on accurate timing. We're delighted to be able to offer our clients this level of professionalism"
Race Director Kerry Stubbs sums it up perfectly in his comment, "With all the organising that goes on with these types of events it is great to know that the competitor's times is one less thing I have to worry about."
