The 32nd 2009 Wattyl Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge is testament to the efficacy of a good idea in that this event is now recognized as being one of the world's top seven rides and is a member of the prestigious UCI Golden Bike Series.
"One of the keys to its success is that we are always looking for ways to improve and grow the event" comments Event Director Keith Crate.
"The logistics of an event of this size combined with the diversity of the events and the varying levels of competition demands a timing solution with the best software, equipment and experience. Times-7 Sport has the expertise to meet these challenges and they certainly deliver the accuracy and professionalism that we need" adds Keith Crate.
This year saw a record number of entrants in the BNZ Solo 160kms Challenge, the inaugural WorkoutZone Women's Road Race, and the 80km Contact Huka Mountain Bike Challenge now in its second year with 330 riders - all ensuring a fresh event that keeps cyclists coming back.
"We're delighted with significant growth in the number of international competitors this year. With 11,154 entrants across 12 categories, including three race options for elite riders, we are confident that we're offering a quality cycling experience" says Kay Brake, Administration Director of the Wattyl Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge.
"T-7 WheelTime is the only non battery-powered UHF RFID timing system in the world that provides the accuracy and reliability to capture large numbers of riders traveling at high speeds" says Michael Lynch, General Manager of Times-7 Sport. "We look forward to this event because it really showcases what T-7 WheelTime can offer in mass-participation events over a number of cycling disciplines."
