Abraham Serra is a driven man. He has a vision of becoming the dominant cycle event timer in his region, and he knows that the only way to achieve that goal is to provide an exceptional timing service.
Abraham owns Cronochip; an event timing service provider based in Valencia, Spain. His company already time up to 6 sporting events every weekend.
He had been researching the best timing system available to deliver results and the accuracy that he needed for cycling events when he came across T-7 WheelTime Electronic Timing System.
"I knew from the Times-7 Sport website that I had found the fit for Cronochip. T-7 WheelTime can integrate with the IPICO system that I already use and I like the fact that I can add to the system over time. It really is a total timing solution for my business" states Abraham Serra.
"It was an exciting sale for us" agrees Michael Lynch General Manager "We certainly didn't experience any communication barriers - Abraham just ‘got' the product and the philosophy"
"Our challenge was to deliver the WheelTime system, including their custom designed WheelTags, in time for the prestigious IV Marcha Ciudad de Valencia" explains Michael.
The IV Marcha Ciudad de Valencia cycling event is an important event on the Spanish Cycling calendar. The 2006 Tour de France winner and the current Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a España winner were big celebrities. Local football team stars and ex-Presidents were also accessible. The Valencia TV network Canal Nou broadcast the event live.
Just to add to the challenge - Cronochip was the first customer to purchase the WheelTime/IPICO "Hot Swap" option.
"Our philosophy is to offer our customers a solution-focussed service by delivering complementary timing solutions. The "Hot Swap" option allows customers to maximise their investment by housing the WheelTime or IPICO Dual Frequency components within the same box."
"We incorporated the delivery, the training and the timing of the event around a business trip to Europe - someone's got to do it!" laughs Michael.
"It was great having Michael with us - the team picked up the training really quickly" agrees Abraham "and it was an added bonus being able to train prior to and during the event in the race environment."
"We're absolutely delighted with the WheelTime system. It has certainly delivered on the promises of reliability and accuracy. Everything ran smoothly and it was a brilliant day" states Abraham.
"T-7 WheelTime is the only non battery-powered UHF RFID timing system in the world that provides the accuracy and reliability to capture large numbers of riders traveling at high speeds" says Michael Lynch, General Manager of Times-7 Sport. "We look forward to this event because it really showcases what T-7 WheelTime can offer in mass-participation events over a number of cycling disciplines."
