The team at Cycling Southland doesn't do much by halves, and this year's 2009 PowerNet Tour of Southland is a perfect case in point.
Bruce Ross, Cycling Southland Manager and Tour of Southland Race Director decided to purchase a WheelTime Electronic Timing system after seeing the efficiency and accuracy of the system over the two previous Tours.
"We knew the WheelTime system could handle the complexity of the reporting requirements and withstand the demanding Southland environment! What better induction for our new WheelTime system than in this demanding UCI event" he says.
The six-day nine-stage race is always full of challenges - not the least of which is the traditionally demanding weather. The theme for 2009 could arguably be "diversity" with some extremely competitive personalities, gruelling stages, ferocious winds and some pretty impressive falls. "We aim to please" quips Bruce Ross.
Times-7 Sport's Product Manager Gavin Chaplow agrees that it all adds to the flavour of the race. "These elite athletes expect a smoothly run event and accuracy is paramount. The WheelTime system delivered flawless results whilst the FinishLynx camera was fully integrated with the system providing undeniable proof of the tight finishes."
"We couldn't be happier with the efficiency and accuracy of WheelTime. It simply endorses our confidence in the system, and we are certainly looking forward to whatever new challenges come our way in 2010" concludes Bruce Ross.
